For the standardization of these products, a series of community and national provisions appear, regulated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, among which the “Regulation (EC) No. 510/2006 of the Council, of March 20, 2006, stands out. , on the protection of geographical indications and designations of origin of agricultural and food products.
Products with a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) have some specific quality or reputation or other characteristic that can be attributed to a geographical origin and whose production, transformation or elaboration takes place in the delimited geographical area from which it also takes its name.
Geographical indications protect your product against any usurpation or imitation of the registered name and guarantee the true origin of the product for your consumers.
